A suspect has been tracked down after vandalizing cars of his ex-girlfriend and her new beau in Middleton.
Kody Lanier, 26, of Leesburg, was picked up in Marion County this past month on a Sumter County warrant charging him with a felony count of criminal damage to property.
The warrant was issued as the result of an episode which occurred in November at the home of his ex-girlfriend in Middleton, the family section of The Villages near the charter school.
Lanier had previously lived with the woman at the home, according to an affidavit from the Wildwood Police Department. On the night in question, his ex-girlfriend was having dinner with her male friend when Lanier arrived to retrieve his belongings. As he left, he made noise and banging sounds as he exited through the garage.
After Lanier was gone, the ex-girlfriend and her male friend went into the garage. They both found large key marks on their vehicles. They obtained estimates and the cost of repair for both vehicles totaled $4,500.
Lanier, who was arrested last year in a beer-drinking incident, is currently free on $2,500 bond.
