Tata Motors has confirmed that the new Tata Sierra will be available in four trims spanning seven variants, each progressively adding technology, comfort, and capability.

Covers core equipment including LED lighting, ESP, electronic parking brake with auto hold, six airbags, TPMS, rear camera, tilt steering, flush door handles, a sliding front armrest, and a 4-inch digital cockpit.
Pure

Tata has announced introductory pricing for the Sierra starting at 11.49 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it slightly above the entry points of most rivals. The Hyundai Creta begins at 10.73 lakh, while the Kia Seltos opens at 10.79 lakh. The Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara starts from 10.76 lakh, and the Volkswagen Taigun is currently at 10.58 lakh (limited-period price), against a standard 11.39 lakh. All aforementioned prices are the ex-showroom rates.
With a higher entry price, the Sierra is positioning itself as a more feature-rich, premium-leaning alternative in the segment.
Tata Motors has highlighted several tech-forward features coming to the new Tata Sierra, positioning it with equipment typically seen in higher segments. The SUV will offer Horizon View triple-screen display setup, a SonicShaft soundbar, and what the company claims is the largest panoramic sunroof in its class. Also showcased are features including MeSpace and Relax modes, 5G connectivity, and IP-based telematics commands.
The Sierra 2025 will additionally debut what Tata claims to be India’s slimmest LED headlamps, featuring 17 mm bi-LED units integrated into the front lighting signature.

The Tata Sierra 2025 is built around the next-gen t.idal 2.0 electrical architecture. Claimed to be the first Ethernet-based system in an ICE vehicle in India, it enables data transfer speeds of up to 1 Gbps. The platform introduces 5G connectivity, also a first for an ICE model in the country, supporting faster vehicle-to-cloud communication and OTA updates.
The setup uses centralised computing with integrated domain controllers and an advanced CAN-FD network for lower-latency ECU communication. Tata also highlights end-to-end cybersecurity readiness and cloud-backup hybrid storage for software reliability and lifecycle updates.
The new Sierra is underpinned by the new ARGOS architecture. ARGOS stands for All-Terrain Ready, Omni-Energy and Geometry Scalable. What this essentially means is that this is a scalable platform that can be used in both ICE-powered models and battery electric vehicles. It features all-wheel drive compatibility and is designed for off-road performance and durability.
The Tata Sierra promises enhanced safety with more than 20 features as part of its Level-2 ADAS package. It comes standard with 6 airbags and seatbelt anchor pre-tensioners. It further features ISOFIX tethers for child safety and 3-point ELR seatbelts for all passengers. Tata Motors claims that the body structure is designed to have similar crash performance in frontal and side impacts.
Tata Sierra comes with the best water wading capacity in its segment. Here’s what it boasts:

Tata crashed two Sierras to test its safety credentials. This was done in order to replicate real-world crash scenarios and is a first for any Indian automaker. The results speak for themselves:
The passenger cell remained intact while the doors were able to open post impact. The fuel system remained sealed, preventing post-crash fires. The belts were secured and were able to release to let the occupants out, while the overall structural integrity remained intact.

The Tata Sierra has been showcased in six monotone colour options so far, including: Andaman Adventure, Bengal Rouge, Coorg Clouds, Mintal Grey, Munnar Mist, and Pristine White.
Andaman Adventure and Bengal Rouge are by far the most eye-catching of the lot and have already showed up in the SUV’s teasers. The Sierra Munnar Mist stands out with its chameleon-like finish that transitions between green and grey depending on how the light falls on the bodywork. For those seeking a more conventional look, Coorg Clouds (a silver/light-grey shade), Mintal Grey (a darker grey), and Pristine White are available as understated options.

The original Sierra was most recognisable from the side with its three-door layout and a curved, fixed glass section at the rear in place of conventional windows.
The new Sierra will retain the familiar silhouette with a much sleeker final result. It puts on five doors for practicality’s sake and loses the fixed glass pane, which it replaces with a wraparound design that gives the impression of a single-piece structure.
The Tata Sierra nameplate returns in 2025 with a completely reimagined modern SUV design while retaining its iconic silhouette. The old Sierra brought a rugged, muscular design with square headlamps flanking a wide grille with horizontal slats.
The new Sierra directly reflects how design standards have evolved over the last 20-odd years. It retains characteristic features such as a flat bonnet with an upright front end, but does away with simplicity for a much bolder look.
The upcoming Tata Sierra will be positioned within the compact SUV segment to take on the likes of the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Grand Vitara, and Toyota Hyryder, among others.
The Tata Sierra’s price is expected to fall within the range of 17-22 lakh (ex-showroom) for the ICE-powered models, while the EV variants will be priced slightly higher between 20-25 lakh (ex-showroom). This will place it between the Curvv and the Harrier in Tata’s own lineup.
On the safety front, the Tata Sierra is expected to launch with six airbags, ABS with ESC, traction control, electronic parking brake with auto hold, and hill hold assist.
The Sierra EV is additionally expected to come with a Level 2 ADAS suite, bringing lane driving aids, adaptive cruise control, autonomous emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera system. The Sierra, like all Tata SUVs, will aim for a 5-star safety rating.
The new Sierra will launch with premium, tech-rich interiors featuring a massive triple screen setup with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 4-spoke steering wheel with the illuminated Tata logo, ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, and a panoramic sunroof. The Tata Sierra will likely get a dual-screen setup in the base model.
The electric Sierra will be underpinned by Tata’s Acti.EV platform, a dedicated EV architecture that can support varying battery sizes and configurations. While the exact specifications are not out yet, the Sierra EV is likely to offer two battery pack options and an estimated single-charge range between 450-550 km.
However, the largest battery pack in Tata SUVs currently is the 75 kWh unit in the Harrrier EV, which allows for 622 km (ARAI) on a single charge. Range-topping variants of the Sierra EV are expected to come with dual-motor setups, allowing for all-wheel drive.
The new Sierra is expected to offer a 1.5-litre TGDi turbo-petrol engine as well as a 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel mill, both to be made available with manual and automatic gearbox options. The Sierra SUV could also pack the 1.5-litre diesel unit, which makes 118 bhp in the Curvv SUV.
Tata Motors has officially unveiled the new Sierra, marking the rebirth of the iconic nameplate two decades after the original was discontinued.
