A TEEN rider has suffered “significant injuries” and a crash probe is under way after a motorbike and car collided in Tamworth on Tuesday.

The motorbike rider was struck at the intersection of Tribe and Johnston streets, on the bottom corner of McCarthy Catholic College, on Tuesday afternoon.
Police from the Crash Investigation Unit were combing the intersection late on Tuesday, September 2, and the wrecks of both the white SUV and the motorbike.
NSW Ambulance Duty Inspector Derek Baker told the Leader the male rider suffered multiple injuries.
“The motorbike rider sustained significant head injuries,” he said from the crash scene.
“The rider was aged in his late teens and had significant head, facial and limb injuries.”

The man was rushed by ambulance to Tamworth hospital and was in “a serious condition”, Inspector Baker confirmed.
Inspector Baker said the driver of the vehicle suffered minor injuries and shock in the collision and was also transported to Tamworth hospital “in a stable condition”.
He said the first triple zero call came in for the motorbike and car collision about 1.45pm, and two ambulances rushed to the scene.
The crash saw all traffic diverted and the afternoon school bus runs for McCarthy and Calrossy children leaving the campuses, as well as students bound for homes in Windmill Hill subdivisions, North Tamworth and Moore Creek, thrown into chaos.
Tamworth Buslines issued a notice to parents warning that the school bus runs would be significantly delayed.
“Please be advised, due to a serious accident on the corner of Tribe and Johnston streets, all buses will be diverting and will be running late,” the company posted online.
Tamworth Regional Council said detours had been set up for motorists, with drivers being diverted around Forest Road and Brown’s Lane, and return, to avoid the Tribe Street intersection.
The crash shut the road for several hours.
Officers were seen marking out the roadway and examining where the white SUV collided with the bike at the intersection.
Crash investigators will try and piece together the moments leading up to the impact before the rider was thrown from the bike.
Police were seen taking details from witnesses with investigations into the cause of the crash continuing.

It’s understood the Crash Investigation Unit has been called in to piece together the circumstances surrounding the crash.
Investigations are continuing.

AMBULANCE paramedics are rushing to help an injured rider in Tamworth after a collision between a motorbike and a car.
Oxley police have cordoned off the intersection of Tribe Street and Johnston Street in North Tamworth, near the edge of McCarthy Catholic College.
A spokesperson for NSW Ambulance told the Leader two ambulance crews had been deployed to the crash site on Tuesday, September 2, after a triple zero call for help about 1.45pm.
Paramedics are treating a motorbike rider, who is believed to be a man, on scene.
The spokesperson said the rider suffered head and facial injuries in the collision with the car shortly after lunch.
Only one patient is being treated on scene at this stage, the spokesperson confirmed.
Police are directing traffic at the scene, and motorists are being urged to avoid the area while emergency services are on site.
