A teenager has died following a major collision on a North East road. The one-vehicle crash took place on the A19 on Saturday night.
Emergency services and National Highways officers were called to the southbound A19, between the A179 and the Elwick turn off, in the Hartlepool area, at around 11.15pm. The driver of a silver Ford C-Max, believed to be a 17-year-old boy, had suffered serious head injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
Following the collision, the road was closed between the A179 Sheraton and the A689 Wolviston, with diversions in place for traffic. The closure was in place for around 12 hours, until around 11.30am on Sunday, December 14. ChronicleLive has been reporting on the incident here.
