Two teenagers are in hospital after a serious crash brought peak-hour traffic to a standstill in Gwynneville and West Wollongong.

The accident occurred on the M1 Princes Motorway, at Gipps Road Overpass, with one of the cars slamming into a side wall along the busy road.
Police, paramedics and firefighters were called to the scene about 6.30pm on Monday, December 8, with a rescue helicopter landing beside the motorway.
The crash was between a Holden Statesman and a Kia Carnival, with the teens left trapped in the Holden.
As paramedics treated the injured teens, Fire and Rescue NSW crews were forced to cut the roof off the car so the patients could be removed.
A 19-year-old male was treated for lacerations to his head and legs, and a possible pelvic fracture. He was airlifted to St George Hospital and remains there in a stable condition.

A 17-year-old girl was taken by road ambulance to Wollongong Hospital. She remains there in a stable condition.
