There are lots of new and exciting cars coming out before the end of the decade, from small electric runarounds to low-slung V8 supercars. Here’s news editor Jamie Edkins to tell you about 13 cars we’re looking forward to before 2030.
The next few years will be an exciting time to be a car buyer. Electric cars are getting cheaper, range is getting better and they’re getting more fun to drive, and there are even a few petrol-powered supercars coming as well.

But for now, here are 13 exciting new cars which you can look forward to before 2030.

The Cupra Raval is one of three small, affordable electric cars coming from the Volkswagen Group before the end of 2026. It shares parts with the Volkswagen ID Polo and the Skoda Epiq, and it gets up to 280 miles of range.
You can also choose between two power options, both being front-wheel drive. There’s a 210hp model, or you can go for a 226hp version. Underneath this camouflage you’ll find styling inspired by the bonkers UrbanRebel concept from 2024, and the wraps will be taken off next year.

This is the Dacia Hipster, and it’s a tiny electric concept car with distinctive styling and plenty of clever features. I actually went to see this car when it was revealed, and I was really surprised by how spacious it was inside.
You can get four adults in pretty easily, or you can fold the rear seats down to liberate enough space for a washing machine. Not bad in a car which is both shorter and narrower than a Dacia Spring. It’s just a concept for now, but the Hipster may inspire a production model before 2030.

Sticking with tiny EVs for a second, this adorable little scamp is the Honda Super N. You can think of it as a spiritual successor to the equally cute Honda e which went off sale a few years ago, and it’s coming to the UK in 2026.
Technical details are thin on the ground, but Honda has said that this car will have a Boost mode which maximises performance and simulates physical gear shifts, a bit like a baby Hyundai Ioniq 5 N.

Few cars have caused quite such a stir as the Jaguar Type 00, and the four-door production version of this car is due to be revealed in 2026. It’ll be a massive, uber luxurious electric car with close to 500 miles of range, and a six-figure price tag is almost certain.
It’ll usher in a new era for Jaguar, as it moves away from sporty, petrol-powered saloons, coupes and SUVs and focuses on high-end EVs instead. The four-door saloon will come first, but there’s also an SUV in the pipeline.

The electric Range Rover has been on the horizon for a while now, but it looks like this car will go on sale in 2026. Reviews editor Darren Cassey has driven an early prototype on an off-road course, and he was hugely impressed with its smooth power delivery and unstoppable capability on the rough stuff.
We’ll have to wait until next year to find out what this car is like on the road, but early signs are good. It has 550hp from its dual-motor setup, and with no engine grumbling away under the bonnet it should be whisper quiet as well.

This is the Omoda 7, and it’s joining showrooms alongside the Jaecoo 7 and the Chery Tiggo 7 with the same engine options and a similar price tag. We’ve compared the stats on these three cars to help make it easier for you to decide which is best for your needs.
For just under £30,000 you get a sporty-looking SUV with features like adaptive cruise control, a heated steering wheel and wireless phone charging as standard. You can also choose between a 1.6-litre petrol engine, or a plug-in hybrid setup with up to 56 miles of all-electric range. First cars will hit the streets in early 2026.

Peugeot’s sporting arm is back with this – the new E-208 GTI. We haven’t seen a Peugeot with that badge on it for some years now, so the announcement was met with some excitement.
Under the skin it’s basically the same as the Alfa Romeo Junior Veloce and the Vauxhall Mokka GSE, which are both excellent starting points thanks to a clever front differential which makes them super agile. The Peugeot E-208 GTI will have 280hp from its front-mounted motor, and it’s going on sale next year.

Polestar went for quite a few years with just one car on sale – the Polestar 2. Now the lineup is three models strong, and next year it’ll add a fourth in the form of the Polestar 5. It’s a big, low-slung four-door which will take on the Porsche Taycan and the Lotus Emeya, and I’ve had a look around it.
The Polestar 5 is striking to look at, and I love the interior. It feels really premium, and there are clever materials around the place to make it look and feel more special. Prices start at £89,500, and order books will open early next year.

The Renault Twingo was one of my favourite new cars I saw in 2025. It looks awesome, has a great interior and it should be well-priced as well. Renault says it’ll cost less than £20,000 when it goes on sale in 2026.
I was impressed with the amount of interior space in such a small car – I could even fit my 6’3” frame in the rear seats reasonably well. Just one motor and battery combination is available. You get an 82hp motor driving the front wheels, which is paired to a 28kWh battery delivering up to 163 miles of range. I can’t wait to drive it.

In December 2025 I went to Spain to drive this – the Skoda Vision 0. It’s a concept car which previews a future electric estate, most likely the next Octavia, and it’s packed with clever, practical features to make your life easier.
There are things like a hidden bin in the boot, easy-access cable storage and rear-hinged back doors with no central pillar to make it easy to get in. That last feature is unlikely to make production, but we’ll find out when the car is revealed in around 2028.

Ah the Roadster, that insane electric sports car which Tesla has been promising for a long time now. The concept was revealed in 2017, and in the years since Elon Musk has promised a sub-1.0 second 0-60mph time, a 250mph top speed and even a rocket launcher pack. No, seriously.
It was also rumoured that the production car would be revealed in 2025, but with only 20 days of the year left as I write this it’s looking unlikely. Maybe 2026 will be the year that all those people who placed a £38,000 deposit will finally get their cars.

If an electric supercar doesn’t appeal to you, Toyota is working on something which might. This is the new GR GT, and it’s a low-slung two-door which is powered by an all-new twin-turbocharged V8 engine.
It’s paired with a hybrid system, and Toyota says it’ll have at least 650hp when the production car arrives in 2027. It should also handle beautifully thanks to a near-perfect weight distribution and a super-low centre of gravity.

Last but not least, we have the Volvo EX60 to look forward to. This is an electric SUV which will go up against cars like the BMW iX3 and Audi Q6 e-tron, and it’s due to go on sale in 2026 with a price tag of around £60,000.
There are very few technical details about this car yet, but we do know that it’ll use an all-new collection of parts. This means it’s unlikely to use the 107kWh battery from the larger EX90, but it could still share that car’s minimalist interior design.
