Emergency services were called to a two-car crash this evening, which caused one vehicle to hit a house.
The crash happened on Blackburn Road, Astley Bridge, near The Bay Mare Pub.

Fortunately, at this stage it does not seem that anyone was seriously injured or the house too damaged, but the road traffic collision only happened in the last hour or so.

One motorist said he had a stiff neck and hit his head.
He said: “I had no idea.

“I was turning right, then the next thing I remember I was jumping out my car.”
Both home owners inside were said to be in bed upstairs when it happened, and heard a ‘big bang’
Their daughter said: “The house shook, they were wondering what the hell was going on.
“The main concern was to make sure everyone was okay, at the end of the day they’re lumps of metal and life is worth more.”
No cordon is in place and motorists are able to get passed, but there are delays in the area, with emergency services on scene.
The road has previously been flagged as a road safety hotspot
Blackburn Road leading from Astley Bridge through Egerton and on to East Lancashire was named as one of the key roads, along with Atherton Road in Hindley.
