Bentley has unveiled a Flying Spur with an ombre paint fade that transitions from Topaz Blue to Windsor Blue
Adding a touch of theater to its palette, Bentley introduced their Ombré paint option at Monterey Car Week by unveiling a personally commissioned Continental GT Speed. Now, that same treatment has been extended to the popular Flying Spur.
Set to debut at the Southampton International Boat Show this weekend, the car goes from Topaz Blue at the front to Windsor Blue at the rear. The transition is gradual as the two hues meet in the center, creating a unique look across the doors, side sills, and roof.

Bentley said the Ombré design takes two highly skilled paint technicians nearly 60 hours to complete. It’s not hard to understand why as it’s a complex process that starts by having the two individual colors applied at the front and rear ends. The paints are then tinted and applied in stages to ensure a smooth transition that is symmetrical across both sides of the car.
The Price of Exclusivity
This level of skill and craftsmanship doesn’t come cheap as Bentley said the Ombré by Mulliner design is their most exclusive paint option, which is priced from $68,000 (£48,000). That means the paint job alone costs more than many luxury vehicles including the BMW 5-Series, Cadillac Lyriq, and Mercedes E-Class. You could also buy nearly four Nissan Versa sedans for the same price.
That’s a princely sum and options are extremely limited “due to the complexity of how the two paints combine.” As Bentley explained, the colors have to be specifically chosen to “ensure a uniform and gradual transition.” The company also has to avoid creating a third color as a yellow to blue transition would result in a vehicle with a green center.
Limited for Now
Given this, there are only three options at launch. Besides Topaz Blue to Windsor Blue, customers will be able to order Tungsten to Onyx and Sunburst Gold to Orange Flame. However, there will be additional color combinations in the future.
