It’s the king of the ring.
The Ringbrothers custom car shop has turned a 1969 Ford Mustang Mach 1 in to a menacing new car that debuted at the SEMA Show.
The black fastback coupe is the result of a customer’s request that asked, “what would the final boss in a John Wick film drive?”
Ringbrothers gave the original car a widebody look with authentic metalwork and extended the wheelbase by moving the front axle line forward. A new carbon-fiber hood, grille surround and front valance updated the front end look. Out back, it gets a carbon-fiber diffuser, tail-panel and quarter-panel extensions.
The engine is an 800 hp supercharged 5.0-liter V8 built by Wegner Motorsports that sends its power to the HRE wheels through a six-speed manual transmission. It breathes through custom headers and a Flowmaster Super 44 Series stainless-steel exhaust system.
It rides on a Roadster Shop frame with incorporated fully independent suspension that Ringbrothers modified into more of unibody construction, adding a roll cage for added stiffness and strength.
The interior retains original elements, including faux wood trim, and enhances them with modern electronics and seats that match its BASF Bootleg Black exterior paint.

“Everything was cued off the Mustang’s original design, but we ramped up the drama, sharpened the lines, and added a number of one-off and 3D-printed details to make it truly stand out,” Ringbrothers co-owner Jim Ring said.

Ringbrothers said 5,500 hours of work went into the build, but did not reveal the price the customer paid. Nevertheless, its creations often run in the $300,000 to $500,000 range.
