A West Midlands Police detective has described the crushing of a car that was used in the deaths of two teenagers as an 'important milestone' for the victims' families.
Damian and Lynette Corfield were among those in attendance at T L Harvey in Darlaston on Monday, December 1 to see the heavily modified Nissan Skyline which was driven by Dhiya Al Maamoury on the night their son 19-year-old Ben Corfield and his friend 16-year-old Liberty Charris were hit, as well as Ebonie Parkes and Ethan Kilburn who were left seriously injured, crushed into a cube.
The couple and members of their family were able to see the car, which had had its wheels and engine removed and other decontamination work done, up close, with West Midlands Police officers who had been involved in the case also in attendance.

Det Sgt Paul Hughes from the force’s Serious Collision Unit, said: “Today marked an important milestone for Ben and Liberty’s families along with Ebony and Ethan.
“The car used in the deaths of Ben and Liberty will never be driven again. A dangerous car has been taken off the roads.
“The car was imported specifically for use in street racing, and I hope this sends a strong message that we won’t tolerate any illegal activity on our roads.”
Al Maamoury, who was 56 and from Solihull at the time of the incident, lost control of the car and ploughed into a group of pedestrians who were gathered on the pavement at the side of the A457 Oldbury Road in Oldbury at a suspected ‘car cruising’ event, at around 11.30pm on November 20, 2022
