Stop driving these vehicles, says Toyota.
The vehicle company has issued a safety recall, urging owners of certain hybrid vehicles to immediately stop driving them.
In an official statement, Toyota revealed that the recall affects approximately 55,405 hybrid vehicles, specifically the 2025-2026 Camry Hybrid and 2026 Corolla Cross Hybrid. All affected vehicles were manufactured between August and November this year.
According to The EV Report, the problem involves a bolt inside the inverter assembly that may not have been properly tightened during production. The inverter is responsible for converting power from the hybrid battery to the electric motor. When the bolt is not adequately tightened, it can fail to make contact at the inverter terminal. This defect can trigger warning lights and cause complete power loss while driving. In some cases, this can potentially cause a vehicle fire.
Toyota launched its investigation in early November 2025 after receiving a field report about a vehicle that failed to start, and by Dec. 10, the automaker had documented 34 field technical reports and 15 warranty claims.
According to the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the motor company is currently developing a repair solution.
Toyota will mail notification letters detailing the safety risk to affected owners by Feb. 2026. A second notification will follow once the fix is available.
Owners seeking additional information can contact Toyota customer service at 1-800-331-4331. The recall is identified by Toyota’s internal numbers 25TB15 and 25TA15 and by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration campaign number 25V869.
