Toyota has officially revealed its updated Hypercar challenger, the TR010 Hybrid, for the 2026 FIA World Endurance Championship season.
Images of the new design were published by the Japanese marque on Wednesday, showing extensive bodywork changes compared to the previous-generation GR010 Hybrid, which had retained the same visual identity since its 2021 debut.
The front end is the most significant change, having been updated to match the design language seen on more recent Toyota street cars, although the sidepods and rear section, including the rear wing, have also been substantially modified.
A new predominantly red livery for the 2026 season was also revealed, bearing a strong similarity to the Toyota GT-One-inspired livery used in last year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, replacing the black color scheme Toyota has used for the past two years.
Additionally, the name of the team, as well as the Cologne-based facility from which Toyota’s WEC outfit is operated, has been changed to ‘Toyota Racing’, with the umbrella company for Toyota’s motorsport activities now known simply as ‘Gazoo Racing’.
Previously, the umbrella company was known as Toyota Gazoo Racing, with the Cologne base known as Toyota Gazoo Racing Europe.
The rebranded facility will continue to take responsibility for producing engines for Toyota’s factory World Rally Championship effort as well as its customer programs in rallying and in the GT4 arena with the Toyota GR Supra GT4 EVO2.
Toyota has so far completed two test with the upgraded TR010 Hybrid, one at Paul Ricard in October — which took place shortly after it first revealed plans for an updated car — and a second in Qatar in December with two cars.
Speaking in Bahrain last November, Toyota Racing vice-chairman Kazuki Nakajima said the changes were made both with performance and aesthetics in mind as it looks to recover from a largely difficult 2025 campaign.
“The first point is styling,” said Nakajima. “I think we had quite a positive reaction from the fans when we ran the car in Paul Ricard and this is something I am personally I am happy to see more than ten years after we restarted the WEC in 2012.
“Our current design is really like a prototype car, but to have such a design that has a good common design language with Toyota road cars is something I have been personally dreaming about since the beginning. This is something I quite like.
“The aero is another part. We have some clear targets to improve over the current car and of course this was part of the point we have worked on with the new package.
“After this year’s results, we had to improve our performance as well. I can only say we had certain targets and it’s a good step forward.”
Toyota confirmed last year it would use an unspecified number of Evo jokers on its 2026 upgrade, understood to be the first it has played since the start of 2023.
Further testing is planned for the end of the month at Paul Ricard and in February at Motorland Aragon ahead of the car’s race debut in the season-opening Qatar 1812km.
