Three people are dead after a tractor trailer hit a vehicle that had pulled off Interstate 81 on Monday, according to police.
Virginia State Police said they're investigating after the crash late in the evening of December 22 in Roanoke County.
"A 2014 Volvo tractor trailer was traveling north on Interstate 81 at the 145-mile-marker, when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway and struck a 2025 Honda Odyssey which was stopped on the right shoulder of the roadway," VSP said.

Police said there were six people in the car at the time of the crash. Three of them died from their injuries in the crash at the hospital, VSP said. They were identified as he driver, 65-year-old Lorraine Renee Williams, and two passengers: 49-year-old Ebony Latasha Williams and 2-year-old Shazziyah Lesley.
Virginia State Police said the three other passengers in the car were taken to the hospital as well for their injuries.
The driver of the tractor trailer was identified as 58-year-old El Hadji Karamoko Quattara. He was charged with Reckless Driving, and additional charges are pending, VSP said.
