ARLINGTON COUNTY, Va. (7News) — Arlington County firefighters and police responded to a hazmat on northbound I-395 Saturday evening after a driver lost control and crashed into a propane tank mounted along the roadway, officials said.
According to a state police spokesman, the driver was entering the interstate from Glebe Road when the car veered to the right and struck the fenced-in 500-gallon propane tank around 6:10 p.m. The tank, used to fuel a generator, suffered a small leak, he said.
As a safety measure, authorities closed I-395 northbound at Glebe Road for about an hour. Additionally, both directions of Glebe Road were shut down near the I-395 ramps.
The crash remains under investigation.
