Royal Caribbean International’s newest Icon Class ship will come equipped with a train station when it sets sail next year – sort of.
Legend of the Seas will feature Royal Railway – Legend Station, an immersive dining experience sail in a full-size rail car, the cruise line announced. The concept builds on Royal Railway – Utopia Station, which launched last year on Utopia of the Seas with screens built into window panes aimed at transporting guests to destinations well beyond where they’re sailing, along with themed menus and entertainment.
Legend’s version will “follow the travels of explorer Marco Polo on a five-course expedition of flavors and history through China, India, Italy and more,” according to an Oct. 6 news release. The eatery is just one of the new features coming to the third Icon Class vessel, which are the largest cruise ships in the world.
“With Legend of the Seas, we are bringing to life our most legendary vacation yet as we continue to push the boundaries with more of what guests know and love,” Michael Bayley, the line’s president and CEO, said in the release. “Those looking to get the most out of their vacation can have it all with Legend’s combination of adventure-packed experiences and incredible destinations in Europe and the Caribbean.”
Along with the Royal Railway, Legend will feature a new theme at its onboard supper club. Following the New York-inspired Empire Supper Club and the Chicago-themed Lincoln Park Supper Club on Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas, respectively, Hollywoodland Supper Club will draw from Los Angeles.
The multi-course dinner will take passengers “through a journey of cinema from 1910 to the 1950s” with live jazz and cocktails.
The Broadway musical, Roald Dahl’s “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory,” will also make its at-sea debut onboard, and the AquaDome Market food hall will offer new concepts, including a smoothie and juice bar.
The cruise line also teased “reimagined” family attractions. Those include the carousel in the family-minded Surfside area and its Playscape for young kids, with additional details to come.
Legend will have many returning favorites from Icon and Star as well, including the Category 6 waterpark; the Swim & Tonic swim-up bar; the Crown’s Edge skywalk and zip line combo and a resident onboard canine known as the Chief Dog Officer.
The ship will launch with seven-night Western Mediterranean cruises from Barcelona and Rome in July 2026, before moving to the Caribbean in November.
Available cruises aboard Legend currently start at $1,309 per person based on double occupancy, according to Royal Caribbean’s website. The fares include accommodations; many meals onboard; drinks like regular coffee and lemonade; entertainment and more.
