SAN FRANCISCO, USA — Turo, the world’s largest car-sharing marketplace, has announced an affordable and convenient alternative to traditional car ownership, offering consumers a flexible way to access vehicles for extended periods without the long-term financial burdens that typically come with owning a car.
To celebrate the launch, Turo is turning the horror of car ownership into Halloween fun with its latest campaign, “10 Days of Slay,” created in collaboration with long-time creative partner SixTwentySix. The campaign stars pop culture icon Sarah Michelle Gellar, known for her role in Buffy the Vampire Slayer, who brings a playful twist to the spooky season while highlighting Turo’s new long-duration offering.
In a short film directed by Nolan Goff and produced by SixTwentySix, Gellar dramatizes the “nightmare” of traditional car dealerships—and the sweet relief of switching to Turo, where drivers can now book cars for a month or more with upfront, all-in monthly pricing. As part of the campaign, Gellar will also help ten lucky winners “slay” car ownership by giving them a free three-month trip on Turo.
The campaign coincides with the company’s major product expansion, which enables users to browse thousands of makes and models available to book for a month or more, with the flexibility to extend or shorten their booking as needed. Consumers can pay in monthly installments and enjoy all-inclusive pricing upfront—eliminating hidden costs like maintenance, down payments, and depreciation.
Turo’s innovation reflects a growing consumer preference for car access over car ownership, driven by rising car prices, insurance premiums, and repair costs. According to a recent Turo survey, 57% of American car owners are interested in accessing vehicles for extended use without full ownership responsibilities. From January to September 2025, Turo’s trips lasting three months or longer have shown triple-digit year-over-year growth, marking the company’s fastest-growing segment.
“A car should be a symbol of freedom, but it’s become a source of financial stress for many. We’re here to change that,” said Tim Rossanis, SVP of Turo US. “Turo gives car shoppers a new, more flexible way to access the exact car they need, for as long as they need it, without the headache of multi-year leases. For our host community, it’s a powerful new way to sustain steady cash flow and grow their businesses. It’s a win-win for all.”
By removing the commitment and complications of traditional ownership, Turo empowers car shoppers to skip dealerships and access vehicles directly from their phones. This initiative supports Turo’s mission to make better use of the world’s 1.5 billion cars—many of which sit idle 95% of the time—by matching them with consumers’ mobility needs instead of contributing to further mass production.
This latest development positions Turo as one of the most flexible alternatives on the market, expanding its disruptive business model beyond short-term rentals and redefining what it means to “own” a car in the modern age.
Consumers across the U.S., Canada, and Australia can now book month-long or extended trips directly through turo.com/home/monthly.
