With more than 300 cars, the Twin Cities Auto Show is giving Minnesotans a rare chance to compare everything in one place, and a big question is whether the new year is actually a smart time to buy a car.
“The beauty of the show is it’s not a selling show,” said Scott Lambert, president of the Twin Cities Auto Show. “It’s just a place to collect information and look at cars.”
Lambert says the show has something for every type of driver — everyday cars, luxury and even overland vehicles for drivers who enjoy the outdoors.
But is it a good time to buy?
“Interest rates are starting to come down. There are good deals out there,” Lambert noted. “Tariffs have not impacted the business, really at all. In fact, car prices have gone down since tariffs have been enacted.”
Lambert adds that winter is a quiet time for the Minnesota car business. He says this event helps those planning for a new ride.
“The important thing for people, I always tell them, if they’re looking to buy a car, find something that fits you, don’t chase a deal if the car doesn’t work for you,” Lambert said.
The Twin Cities Auto Show runs through Jan. 11 at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
