More storm activity could bring rain to Las Vegas this week.

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A 12-vehicle crash at the intersection of Cheyenne Avenue and Jones Boulevard left two people dead and one person in critical condition on Tuesday.
The crash happened around 3:30 p.m. when a 2011 Infiniti G37 heading eastbound on Cheyenne at a high rate of speed collided with several cars waiting at a red light at the intersection.
Las Vegas Metropolitan Police initially said two drivers were pronounced dead at the scene, while four others were transported to a nearby hospital for treatment.
They were later identified on Wednesday as a 20-year-old female passenger in the Infiniti and a 38-year-old male driver of a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek, one of the vehicles involved in the chain collision.
A third person, a 24-year-old female passenger from a 2013 Nissan Altima, was transported to a hospital with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the Infiniti, 19-year-old Jose Gutierrez, suffered serious injuries.
The driver of the Nissan Altima also had serious injuries. Five other people were listed with "claimed" injuries.
LVMPD said Gutierrez was booked in absentia on four counts of reckless driving causing death or serious bodily harm. A court appearance is scheduled for Thursday, but police said he was still receiving continuous care at UMC for his injuries as of Wednesday morning after needing advanced medical intervention.
Law enforcement officials emphasized the preventable nature of such accidents, urging the community to take an active role in promoting safe driving practices. "This has to stop," said a spokesperson. "We need everyone to take a part in correcting unsafe driving."
The spokesperson also noted the wet road conditions due to rain at the time of the accident, highlighting the importance of adjusting driving behavior to weather conditions.
The community is urged to remain vigilant and report unsafe driving to help prevent further tragedies.
