ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) – Two people were killed in a four-vehicle collision near mile 62 on Parks Highway Thursday, according to an Alaska State Trooper dispatch report.
A preliminary investigation revealed a Subaru station wagon driven by 52-year-old Wasilla resident Saranne Twitchell crossed into oncoming traffic and struck three vehicles, the report says. AST was notified of the incident around 5:04 p.m. that day.
Twitchell was declared deceased while en route to the hospital. The sole occupant of the second vehicle Twitchell struck, a 16-year-old male, was declared deceased at the scene.
No one else was transported by ambulance for medical care, according to the report. The accident closed the highway for about 4.5 hours. Next of kin have been notified for both deceased drivers.
