BRIDGEWATER, NJ — A three-car crash with one vehicle on fire caused Route 202 South to close in Bridgewater on Monday night.
At around 6 p.m., Bridgewater Police Officers went to Route 202 South near Towne Center Road for a three-vehicle crash.
Officers found two disabled vehicles on Route 202, one of which was on fire, said Sgt. Kevin Florczak.
A preliminary investigation found that Alfonso Garciamiron, 58, of Flemington, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet HHR south on Route 202 when he hit the back of a 2025 Toyota RAV4 driven by Daniel Carmody, 70, of Branchburg.
The impact of the crash pushed the Toyota into a third vehicle, causing minor damage, said Florczak.
Both Garciamiron and Carmody had minor injuries and were treated.
Garciamiron’s vehicle became engulfed in flames as a result of the crash.
Country Hills Volunteer Fire Company and Bradley Gardens Volunteer Fire Company extinguished the fire.
The highway was temporarily closed while crews cleared debris from the scene.
This crash remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Bridgewater Police Department at 908-722-4111.
