CHARLOTTE, N.C. (WBTV) – Video showed chaos erupt as cars spun around and fireworks were ignited during a street takeover in Charlotte on New Year’s Eve.
The takeover happened on Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2025, at the intersection of North Davidson and East 36th Street in NoDa. Footage of the street takeover appears in the following section of this article.

It wasn’t immediately clear whether any arrests were made or if anyone was hurt.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police confirmed they are investigating and were expected to provide more information about the street takeover next week. Police initially said they would share more details on Friday, Jan. 2.
