In 2026, a new major player from China, Changan, will enter the Spanish automotive market. The company is already well known in Asia and now aims to establish itself in Europe, offering vehicles developed in collaboration with giants such as Mazda, Ford, Peugeot, and Suzuki. Changan is not just expanding its sales geography—the brand is betting on cutting-edge technology and electric vehicles to attract the attention of European buyers.
Changan plans to launch its offensive with two electric SUVs: Deepal S05 and Deepal S07. Both models have already proven themselves in the Asian market and are now preparing for their debut in Spain. The company is confident it can seriously challenge established European brands, as Changan has years of experience in producing millions of vehicles and partnering with leading global names.
Changan is one of the largest car manufacturers in China and has sold over 20 million vehicles throughout its history. In the past year alone, the company sold more than 400,000 cars on the domestic market, while global sales exceeded 2.55 million units. The brand’s products are available in 63 countries, and now Changan is targeting Europe.
The first European markets for the Deepal S07 are Norway, Denmark, Germany, and the Netherlands. This fully electric SUV was developed with European drivers in mind—the design was created at an Italian center, and the technical specifications were tailored to meet EU standards. Deepal S07 is already receiving positive reviews for its blend of power, range, and comfort.
The Deepal S07 is Changan’s flagship model for Europe. The vehicle impresses with its dimensions: 4.75 meters long, 1.93 meters wide, 1.65 meters high, and a wheelbase of 2.9 meters. The SUV features a spacious 510-liter trunk and an additional 125-liter front compartment. The new European version is equipped with a 217 hp electric motor delivering 320 Nm of torque. A 79.97 kWh battery provides a driving range of up to 475 kilometers.
The second new model will be the Deepal S05 — a more compact SUV with a length of 4.6 meters. In Spain, it will be available with a 272 hp engine and a driving range of 485 kilometers. For the Chinese domestic market, a Long Range version with extended autonomy has already been launched: 255 hp, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds, and a 77.94 kWh battery that offers up to 630 kilometers according to the Chinese CLTC standard. In Europe, this figure may be lower due to different certification requirements.
Changan is focusing not only on technology, but also on affordability. The Deepal S07 will be offered starting at €43,990, while the Deepal S05 costs around €19,850 in China. For the European market, the extended-range version may reach up to €48,000, which still appears competitive compared to similar offerings from other manufacturers.
The company believes that the combination of advanced technology, attractive design, and reasonable pricing will help it quickly win the trust of Spanish motorists. Changan is already preparing its service infrastructure across Europe and negotiating with dealerships throughout Spain.
Changan isn’t stopping at just these two models. Over the next few years, the company plans to expand its electric vehicle lineup and launch new versions with even greater range and improved features. There are plans to establish its own service centers and develop a charging station network to make owning an electric car as convenient as possible for Europeans.
At the same time, the manufacturer is continuing its collaborations with leading global automakers, which enables it to implement cutting-edge technology and maintain high quality standards. Changan is looking confidently to the future and preparing to compete seriously for a place in the European market.
In case you didn’t know, Changan is one of China’s oldest and largest automakers, founded back in the 19th century. The company has close partnerships with brands like Mazda, Ford, Peugeot, and Suzuki, and its vehicles are sold in dozens of countries worldwide. In recent years, Changan has focused on electric vehicles and innovative technologies, aiming to become a global market leader.
