VISITORS can park for free in five Cockermouth car parks today as Cumberland Council looks to support the town’s Christmas lights switch-on.
Parking will be free between 1pm and 7pm in the following car parks in Cockermouth: Bitterbeck, Riverside, All Saints, Memorial Gardens, Sullart Street today.
It coincides with the Christmas lights switch-on event organised by Cockermouth Town Council.
Festivities begin from 1pm and the Christmas lights will be switched-on at 5pm.
Christmas stalls, music, food and a funfair can be found on Cockermouth Main Street for families to enjoy.
Cockermouth Town Council is making the public aware that there will be no parking on main street at any time today.
Road closures will be in force from the bottom of Station Street to the bottom of Gallowbarrow.
