Labor Day 2025 has arrived, and as you ready the kids for back to school and prepare for the fall season, you may want to finally get that bloodwork done, shop for a new car, mail a package, or hope to get Amazon in the mail.
Since Labor Day is a federal holiday and many people are off, some stores and businesses are closed, while others will remain open. Here’s what places will still be open for your needs on Labor Day this year.
Labor Day 2025 is Monday, Sept. 1, 2025. Labor Day is a federal holiday celebrated to honor the nation’s workers. It always falls on the first Monday in September, anytime between Sept. 1 through Sept. 7.
Labor Day is one of 11 federal U.S. holidays, according to the U.S. Office of Personnel Management. Most federal workers and private sector workers receive paid time off.
Branches of Capital One, Bank of America, PNC, CitiBank, Truist, Wells Fargo and JPMorgan Chase across the U.S. and Pennsylvania will be closed on Labor Day, USA TODAY reported.
All U.S. Postal Service facilities will be closed for retail transactions in the U.S. and New Jersey. There will be no regular mail deliveries on Monday, Sept. 1.
UPS pickup and delivery services will not be available on Labor Day, and UPS Store locations will be closed. Critical deliveries will still be in service for both companies.

Yes, Amazon delivers on Labor Day. Amazon will typically not deliver on major holidays like Thanksgiving and Christmas, but be sure to check the specific shipping options of your order, as it may vary by location.
Quest Diagnostics will be closed on Labor Day, observed Monday, Sept. 1, according to their website. While there is no indication if LabCorp closed entirely, many locations are closed on Labor Day.
Stock markets and bond markets will be closed on Sept. 1 for Labor Day. The Nasdaq and New York Stock Exchange will close for the day and reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 2.
Many car dealerships are open on Labor Day, and likely will be pushing Labor Day sales. But many showrooms will be open with limited hours. A random check of dealerships shows they remain open, but close between 5 p.m. and 6 p.m. Check your nearest dealership for hours.
Most of the Bucks County municipalities and contracted trash collectors will not have trash pickup on Labor Day. Many townships have posted their garbage schedules on their websites and social media pages, alerting residents to the shift in schedule.
The next federal holiday is Columbus Day, which falls on Oct. 13, 2025.
