MG Majestor is entering the premium diesel SUV segment with big promises. With more features and competitive pricing, people are asking whether it can impact the Toyota Fortuner’s resale value in India. While the Majestor looks strong on paper, the Fortuner’s position in the used car market remains solid.
Here is a simple look at what could happen.
The MG Majestor is expected to be priced around Rs 40-45 lakh (ex-showroom). This places it close to mid and top variants of the Toyota Fortuner. However, MG is offering more modern features at that price.
The Majestor is likely to come with Level 2 ADAS, twin 12.3-inch screens, a panoramic sunroof, ventilated seats and premium interior touches. It will also get a 2.0-litre twin-turbo diesel engine producing around 215 hp and 478 Nm, paired with an 8-speed automatic gearbox and 4×4 option.
For those who want the latest technology and more cabin space, the Majestor may look like better value.

Even with strong competition, the Toyota Fortuner enjoys unmatched brand trust in India. It is known for its 2.8-litre diesel engine, strong build quality and long-term durability.
In the resale market, buyers focus heavily on reliability and low maintenance. The Fortuner has built this reputation over many years. It is often seen as a safe investment rather than just an SUV.
Toyota’s wide service network across India also adds confidence for used car buyers. This plays a big role in keeping resale values high.
In the short term, the MG Majestor is unlikely to cause a major drop in Fortuner resale value. The Fortuner has a strong demand-supply gap in the used car market, which keeps prices firm.
In the long term, if the Majestor proves reliable and gains strong customer trust, it could slowly reduce Fortuner’s dominance. This may slightly soften resale values, but not drastically.
