A WOMAN is fighting for her life after a horror car crash that also saw another female and a baby girl rushed to hospital.
The single-car collision took place on the N16 at Dunally, Sligo at around 11.15am today.
Gardai and emergency services rushed to the scene.
A passenger, a woman aged in her 50s, was taken by ambulance to Sligo University Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
The other people in the car included the driver, a woman aged in her 20s, and a baby girl.
They were taken to hospital as a precaution.
The scene was preserved for an examination by a Garda forensic team and the main N16 Sligo to Manorhamilton/Enniskillen Road has been closed and is expected to remain closed overnight.
Diversions have been put in place on the L3404 Drum road and at Dunally Cross.
Gardai are now appealing for witnesses to the crash.
Gardai said in a statement: "Gardai are appealing for witnesses following a single-vehicle road traffic collision at Dunally, Sligo today, 11th September 2025.
"At around 11:15am, Gardai and emergency services were alerted to the collision on the N16.
"A passenger (female aged in her 50s) was brought by ambulance to Sligo University Hospital with life-threatening injuries. The other occupants of the car – the driver (female, 20s) and another passenger (infant female) – were conveyed to hospital as a precaution.
"The scene has been preserved for examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators.
"The main N16 Sligo to Manorhamilton/Enniskillen Road is expected to remain closed overnight and diversions are in place on the L3404 Drum road and at Dunally Cross.
"Gardai are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed this collision to contact them.
"They are appealing to road users who were on the N16 at Dunally between 11:00am and 11:30am and may have camera footage (including dash-cam) to make it available to the investigation team.
"Anyone with information is asked to contact Sligo Garda Station on 071 9157000, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda Station."
