Two people died early Wednesday after a car and a propane tanker collided in Egleston Township, according to the Muskegon County Sheriff's Office.
The crash happened on Maple Island Road, north of North Sullivan Road, at 10:18 a.m.

According to deputies, a 51-year-old woman driving north lost control of the car, crossed the centerline and collided with the southbound semi-tanker.
The car then got pinned between a guardrail and the truck, deputies said.
The 51-year-old driver and a 9-year-old passenger died at the scene, according to the sheriff's office. The truck driver was uninjured.

Alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the crash, deputies said.
Maple Island Road was expected to be shut down for several hours. Drivers were asked not to drive around the traffic barricades.
