Local news:
A young woman has died after crashing into a pole and sparking a fire while fleeing police.
Police attempted to stop the woman, believed to be in her 30s, as she was driving along Buchanan Rd in Buchanan, in the NSW Hunter region, about 10.45am on Friday.
She stopped briefly before driving off.

Shortly afterwards, her car slammed into a telegraph pole on the same road and burst into flames.
The woman, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died at the scene.
She has not yet been formally identified.
A crime scene has been established and a critical incident declared.
“The investigation will be subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission,” police said.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
Police are expected to provide further details at a press conference later on Friday.
