A woman has died following a serious crash south of Moree near Wondah Road turn-off last night.
At about 7.30pm on Thursday, September 18, emergency services were called to the Newell Highway, south of Moree, following reports of a crash.
Officers attached to New England Police District attended and found a truck and car had collided, with the car rolling.
The driver – a 21-year-old woman – died at the scene.
The truck driver – a 24-year-old man – was uninjured.
A crime scene was established, and police commenced inquiries into the circumstances surrounding the crash, with specialist officers from the Crash Investigation Unit in attendance.
The Newell Highway was closed in both directions with alternating – stop-slow – traffic conditions adopted to allow motorists to pass in one direction at a time.
Ongoing police investigations are expected to take some time.
A report will be prepared for the coroner.
