An overnight crash involving a semi truck in the city’s Logan Square neighborhood left one person dead, police said, with streets closed and buses rerouted early Monday morning as police worked to investigate.
About 1:30 a.m., in the 3800 block of West Diversey, two women, both 31, were traveling westbound in a black sedan when the driver lost control and hit an empty parked car. The vehicle then veered across the road into oncoming traffic and into the back of a semi, police said.

The passenger in the black sedan was ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead on the scene, officials said.
The driver of the sedan was transported to a nearby hospital and last listed in good condition. The man driving the semi-truck was not injured, police said.
Photos and video from the scene showed a large crash scene at the intersection of Diversey and Hamlin, with red crime scene tape and police blocking off some streets. Car parts, including a tire, could be seen strewn across the road near a mangled black sedan with its airbags deployed.
As of 5:30 a.m., Diversey Avenue at Hamlin Avenue was closed in both directions, NBC 5 traffic reporter Kye Martin said, with CTA #76 Diversey buses rerouted due to the investigation.
This is a developing story that will be updated as more information becomes available.
