SAN MATEO, CA — Police said a woman who was hit by a car Friday morning in San Mateo later died at the hospital.
A woman was fatally struck at around 10:30 a.m. on Friday at 17th Avenue and El Camino Real, according to the San Mateo Police Department.
The woman was transported to the hospital where she later died, police said.
At 1:36 p.m., Officers said they had cleared the scene and roadways have all been reopened.
Northbound traffic on El Camino Real was being diverted onto eastbound 17th Avenue, while southbound traffic was rerouted to West Borel Avenue.
Police said significant traffic delays expected and to use alternate routes until further notice.
