A woman was found dead on Friday afternoon in a parked car outside Lake Illawarra police station, and police say she may have been there for three days.

A critical incident was declared after police officers found the 48-year-old’s body about 4.30pm on December 5.
In a statement, police said early indications are that her body had been in the vehicle at the Pioneer Drive police station since about 6.30pm on Tuesday, December 2.
Once her body was found, the woman was assessed by NSW Ambulance paramedics.
However she could not be revived and a crime scene was established.
A critical incident team from the neighbouring South Coast Police District will investigate the circumstances surrounding this incident.
The investigation will be subject of an independent review by the Professional Standards Command and oversight by the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
