A woman has been airlifted to hospital after a serious car accident on the Hume Motorway at Pheasants Nest.

The crash occurred on the southbound lanes, near the service centre, about midday today, with paramedics, police, and firefighters called to the scene.

“It was a female in her 40s who had a possible medical episode which could have caused the accident,” a NSW Ambulance spokesman said.

Paramedics treated her for the medical condition and possible whiplash injuries.

She was then taken to Liverpool Hospital in a stable condition.
