Photos from the scene showed a ute had crashed through the shopfront glass pane and part of a brick wall before coming to a stop at the far end of the food court.
Inspector Aleena Crack said a 67-year-old woman from Newnham was in hospital with critical injuries.

"It is too early to tell what the cause of the crash was, our investigation services are looking into it and any members that witnessed the incident should come forward," Inspector Crack said.
She said CCTV footage was being reviewed, which would "give us a bit more direction" as to what occurred.
Inspector Crack said members of the public rendered first aid to the injured pedestrian before emergency services arrived.

Footage provided by the pair show damage sustained to their restaurant's kitchen and walls.
"My husband was actually out the back, so the car actually banged into the back, the wall has collapsed," Ms Thu said.
Ms Thu said a woman was sitting down eating when she was injured.
Police, the fire service and paramedics are all responding to the incident.
