A woman has been taken to hospital after being struck by a car in St Helens this evening. Emergency services were called to Clock Face Road at around 5.40pm on Monday, November 3, following reports of a collision involving a Suzuki Vitara and a female pedestrian.
The driver stopped at the scene and is assisting police with their enquiries, Merseyside Police confirmed. According to traffic monitoring service Inrix, Clock Face Road (A569) is closed in both directions between Gorsey Lane and Gartons Lane.
Motorists are being urged to find alternative routes while emergency services remain at the scene.
A spokesperson for the force said: "We can confirm officers are this evening, Monday, November 3, at the scene of a road traffic collision in St Helens.
"We were contacted at 5.40pm following reports of a collision between a Suzuki Vitara and a female pedestrian on Clock Face Road.
"The woman has been taken to hospital. The driver of the car stopped at the scene and is assisting with enquiries.
"There are road closures in place while the matter is being dealt with and motorists are advised to avoid the area.
"An investigation into the collision is underway."
