AN elderly woman in Droitwich has been told to vacate her house after a car crashed into it.
Jill Campbell, 86, had been just days away from moving out of her house on Dovey Close when she heard the “loud bang”, which she initially thought was a stepladder that had fallen down.
When she looked outside, she realised that a car had ploughed through a fence, onto a grass verge and into the house, before coming to a stop on a low-level wall.
“I heard a loud bang,” she said. “Because I’m moving, I’ve got a stepladder upstairs and I thought it had fallen in the bathroom.

“I ran upstairs to check, looked at the camera and saw the back of the car and all the damage.
“I came out and all my neighbours were already here and they called the emergency services. They were here within minutes.”
A neighbour who also heard the commotion said they thought something had exploded at first.
“Everyone heard a massive noise and came out to see what it was,” he said. “I thought something in the house had exploded.”
The road was closed while police, firefighters and paramedics attended the scene on Saturday afternoon (November 29).

An air ambulance also landed in the area.
It’s believed that a couple had been in the car, with the passenger reportedly taken to hospital.
National Grid and Cadent Gas were later called to assess the damage and Miss Campbell said she was told to leave the property.
She said she had just sold the house, following the recent deaths of her partner and son, and was due to move into her new home in December.
Now, she fears she may not be able to.

“I thought I’d sold my house but I’m here for a while longer,” she said. “My new home is ready to move into in December.
“My partner passed away two years ago which is why I’m selling and my son passed away in January.
“I can’t open the gate, it’s damaged the kitchen along the top, the whole of that corner is damaged.
“There are cracks all up the wall at the front and by the front door. I can hardly close my front door.
“I’m hoping I can claim it off the insurance so hopefully it doesn’t cost me too much.”
