Wreckfest 2, the banger racing game still in Early Access, has received a new content update.
Update 3 brings in two new cars, new tracks and layout, improvements to AI opponents and various optimisations.
Wreckfest 2 also supports SimHub telemetry with this update, enabling support for those who have more elaborate simulator setups at home to see all the physics data of developer Bugbear Entertainment’s next car game.
Speaking of subtle references to the developer’s past, the new trailer for the update also sneaked in a FlatOut 2 reference, which one might be mistaken to only mean the racing term of putting the pedal to the metal. And the narrator continues to use their charming Finnish accent in this one.
While not included in the update, Wreckfest 2 teases not only a livery editor (with a paint brush to add those grimy rust instead of having to work with stickers and decals like in other game’s livery editors) but also the ability to modify tracks with custom prop placement.
Wreckfest 2 is a racing game based on the culture of banger racing or folk racing. Players drive jalopies of a vehicle around windy, uneven tracks across tarmac and dirt, and contact is pretty much expected, as the name implies. Cars physics is more on the realistic side, but the game also features fully-deformed cars with exceptional vehicle damage rendering, something you don’t see as much in realistic racing games.
Wreckfest 2 is still in Early Access, available on PC (Steam).
