Manhart’s wild BMW M5 build pushes close to 900 hp with turbo upgrades, coilovers, and carbon aero parts
Not too long ago, supercars with 600 hp were considered class-leading, but now you can walk into a premium car dealership and drive off in a sedan, SUV, or estate with far more grunt than that. A prime example of that is the new BMW M5.
Equipped with a hybridized 4.4-liter twin-turbocharged V8, it delivers 717 hp and 737 lb-ft (1,000 Nm) of torque, which is more than enough for the street. Evidently, someone failed to mention that to Manhart.
The German tuner has established itself over the years as an expert in all things BMW and it has just taken the new M5 and made it even more extraordinary. To do so, it has upgraded the V8’s turbochargers and fitted its in-house MHtronik powerbox. In addition, the sports sedan now rocks an upgraded stainless steel exhaust system with adjustable valves and race downpipes.

Thanks to these changes, the Bimmer is now good for 897 hp and 885 lb-ft (1,200 Nm) of torque. Although Manhart hasn’t released any acceleration figures for the car, it’s inevitably faster than the standard model.
Elsewhere, the tuner has added lowering springs to its MH5 900E package, and also offers the option of KW Variant 4 coilovers. All MH5 900Es from the firm also include the factory-fitted carbon ceramic brakes from BMW M, but should customers wish, aftermarket options are available.
Visuals to Match the Performance
Alongside these mechanical upgrades, the M5 has also been fitted with new forged wheels, measuring 22×10.5 at the front and 22×11 at the rear wrapped in 295/30 and 315/30 tires. Slightly smaller 21×10.5 front and larger 22×11.5 rear wheels are also available, complete with 285/35 and 305/30 tires.
Completing the changes are plenty of carbon fiber parts such as a new spoiler lip, canards, diffuser, and side skirts. There are also some special decals with a champagne color, although not all customers may find them to their liking.
