With vehicle costs reaching record highs, ensuring you don't overpay for your next ride is more important than ever.
But many popular cars on the market are actually selling for more than their MSRP. Consumer Reports and TrueCar, a car retailer, made a list of new cars that are overpriced.
“A trend we’re routinely seeing is that work-oriented trucks (notably the Ford $F F-150 this month), low-priced vehicles, special-edition sports cars, and front-drive SUVs are more often the models selling for over sticker,” CR wrote. What’s strange: Many of the vehicles selling above market price aren’t even particularly highly-rated models.

Ford $F’s small pick-up, the Maverick, is currently selling for 7% over the MSRP, according to CR. It found the pickup’s average transaction price is $30,007, meaning people are spending an average of $1,862 over MSRP.

Kia’s affordable sedan the K4 may still be reasonably priced, but it is nonetheless selling for 7% over the MSRP, according to CR. It found the average transaction price for the 2026 K4 GT-Line Hatchback is 27,599, meaning people are paying on average about $1,700 over MSRP.
